Cookie Policy

What cookies we use, why we use them, and how to control them.

▸ Last Updated: January 1, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how Brew Insider uses cookies and similar technologies on brewinsider.com. We’ve kept this plain and straightforward — no jargon, no fine print traps.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners about how their site is being used.

Cookies are not harmful programs and cannot access files on your device. They are only text and can only be read by the site that created them — with the exception of third-party cookies (explained below).

2. Cookies We Use

Brew Insider uses the following categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: These are set by WordPress and are required for the Site to function. They include session cookies that manage your visit. These cannot be disabled without breaking core site functionality.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are most popular, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. Data collected is aggregated and anonymized. No personally identifiable information is stored. Cookie name examples: _ga, _gid, _gat.
  • Affiliate cookies (Amazon Associates): When you click an Amazon product link, Amazon places a cookie in your browser (typically lasting 24 hours for most purchases). This allows Amazon to attribute any resulting purchases to our affiliate account. We do not control these cookies and they are governed by Amazon’s Cookie Policy.

3. Cookies We Do Not Use

We do not use cookies for targeted advertising, behavioural profiling, or retargeting. We do not sell data derived from cookies to any third party. We do not use social media tracking pixels (e.g., Facebook Pixel).

4. Cookie Duration

  • Session cookies: Deleted automatically when you close your browser
  • Google Analytics (_ga): 2 years
  • Google Analytics (_gid): 24 hours
  • Amazon affiliate cookies: 24 hours (standard cart-attribution window)

5. How to Control Cookies

You have several options for controlling cookies:

  • Browser settings: All major browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. Look in your browser’s Privacy or Security settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how some pages on this site work.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your visit data from being sent to Google Analytics.
  • Amazon cookie opt-out: Visit Amazon’s privacy page to adjust your advertising and cookie preferences for their platform.

Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to read content on this site. It simply means we will have less data to understand how our site is used — which is your right.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if we change the tools or services we use. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any revisions. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
